The Westby Family has long been recognized for their unwavering support of The University of Tulsa. Gerald Westby served on TU’s Board of Trustees from 1957 until his death in 1983. He served as chairman of the board from 1966 to 1969. Kathleen Westby became a TU trustee in 1973 and served until her death in December 2000. The Westbys endowed a number of scholarships at TU in addition to contributing to the establishment and renovation of campus facilities.
Mr. Westby was a geologist by profession and was chairman of the board of Seismograph Services Corporation in Tulsa for many years. Mrs. Westby is perhaps best known for forming the Tulsa Arts and Humanities Council and for her efforts to select and place works of art in Tulsa’s public buildings, parks and facilities. The Westby Family Trust has funded four important scholarships: the Gerald H. and Kathleen P. Westby Endowed Presidential Scholarships in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Geosciences, and Fine and Performing Arts.
