The W. Alton Jones Foundation Scholarship for Nursing was established by a gift from the W. Alton Jones Foundation. This organization was established in 1944 by W. Alton Jones to support worthy causes throughout the world. The foundation’s namesake was an oil and gas executive with Cities Service Company (later CITGO). The W. Alton Jones Foundation made several gifts to The University of Tulsa from 1969 until 1980 at the request of the late J. Edgar “Ed” Heston, a Tulsa oil company executive who served as a TU Trustee from 1965-68. This scholarship fund provides financial assistance to deserving nursing students at The University of Tulsa.
