Dr. Robert A. “Bob” Fromtling (BS ’74, Microbiology; MS ’76, Biological Science) and Anne M. (Kovacs) Fromtling (BS ’76, Microbiology) are loyal alumni and devoted supporters of The University of Tulsa who are deeply committed to fostering learning opportunities for those following in their footsteps in the Department of Biological Science at TU.
Bob and Anne Fromtling continue to appreciate the quality academics they experienced at TU, especially the learning opportunities they enjoyed while attending scientific conferences and experiential field trips, which enabled them to make important professional contacts, learn through experience, and build lasting memories.
Bob Fromtling received a prestigious Parriott Scholarship for his graduate study at TU, and he went on to earn his PhD at another university before launching a successful career, ultimately retiring from the pharmaceutical firm, Merck and Company, after many years of service.
Bob and Anne Fromtling have generously supported numerous TU programs, including the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Collins College of Business, the Department of Biological Science, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and the TU Annual Fund. Bob also donates his time, talent and expertise by serving on the Biological Science Alumni Advisory Board.
In 2020, Bob and Anne Fromtling wished to create a perpetual source of support for student travel in the Department of Biological Science, and they established the Robert (BS ’74; MS ’76) and Anne (BS ’76) Fromtling Biological Science Student Travel Grant Endowment Fund. This fund is designed to promote students’ participation in scientific conferences and experiential field trips, activities that were very meaningful to Dr. and Mrs. Fromtling during their time at TU.
The University of Tulsa is deeply grateful for the important learning opportunities that will spring from this endowment fund, and for the thoughtful generosity of Bob and Anne Fromtling.
