Nancy L. and C. Philip Tholen

Charles Philip “Phil” Tholen graduated from The University of Tulsa with a BS in Accounting in 1971, and  he wasted no time in launching a successful career, eventually serving as Chief Financial Officer of Samson Energy Company (formerly Samson Investment Company), and then, as a Senior Advisor to the company after more than 30 years of service.

Nancy L. (Hull) Tholen (BS ’70; Business Education) is a proud TU graduate, who also made her career in the energy sector at Sanguine Ltd. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority at TU and has many warm memories of her time on campus.

Phil and Nancy Tholen have given generously to support TU Athletics through the Golden Hurricane Club. The couple has also given of their time and financial resources to support other community organizations, including the Tulsa Garden Club, the Tulsa Ballet Theatre and the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra.

In 1995, Phil and Nancy Tholen committed a planned gift to establish the Philip and Nancy Tholen Endowment Fund at The University of Tulsa, which makes them members of the esteemed Chapman Legacy Society. This endowment will fund scholarships for students in the Collins College of Business.

The TU family is deeply grateful that this philanthropic couple created a perpetual source of funding to benefit future business students at TU. The University of Tulsa’s progress is only possible thanks to the enduring support of our loyal alumni.
