The late Loil D. Ladd (BS ’57, Mathematics) was a devoted alumnus and supporter of The University of Tulsa, who gave generously to strengthen his alma mater in both athletics and academics for many years. Since Mr. Ladd passed away in 2008, his wife, LoUna F. (Reeves) Ladd, has extended her husband’s generosity by supporting both TU and Gilcrease Museum.
Loil Ladd was a corporate and community leader in Tulsa, holding an array of high-level positions at Sunoco (formerly DX Sunray Oil Co.) from 1957-1989, including 17 years as the Computer Manager in the Tulsa office. He also worked for the City of Tulsa as a Data Processing Consultant for three years, with the approval of Sunoco.
Mr. Ladd considered community service a cornerstone of his life, and he served on a number of boards for Tulsa nonprofits, including the Tulsa Metropolitan YMCA, Downtown Tulsa Unlimited, the Tulsa Community College Foundation, and the City of Tulsa Mayor’s Data Processing Advisory Board.
Loil Ladd also gave generously of his time and talent to his alma mater by serving as a Director and Secretary/Treasurer of the Golden Hurricane Club.
In 1995, Mr. and Mrs. Ladd committed an estate gift to support TU Athletics, making them members of the esteemed Chapman Legacy Society and the Circle Society. In addition, Mrs. Ladd wanted to honor her husband’s love of TU and desire to support his alma mater by making an additional testamentary gift to support the TU General Fund, also known as the TU Annual Fund.
The University of Tulsa is deeply grateful to LoUna and Loil Ladd, whose generosity will make it possible for deserving TU students and student-athletes to pursue their higher education goals for generations to come.
