Dr. Lorraine I. Stengl was a dear friend and loyal supporter of The University of Tulsa. A longtime resident of Temple, Texas, Dr. Stengl was a physician who invested in TU’s College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences, and the TU Annual Fund. She also made plans to leave an estate gift in honor of her parents, Rudolph J. and Sylvia C. Stengl.
Rudolph and Sylvia Stengl established the successful Research Products Company in 1970, which specialized in distributing and manufacturing organic research chemicals and laboratory research equipment. The company grew to have facilities across the U.S. and abroad, and while the company’s headquarters were located in Mount Prospect, Illinois, Dr. Stengl wished to create an endowment in Tulsa because that is where her father began his career.
Dr. Stengl passed away in 2018 at the age of 99, and her estate gift funded the Rudolph J. and Sylvia C. Stengl Endowment for Engineering Research at The University of Tulsa. This endowment provides support for research activities in the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, with a special emphasis on funding student research and the equipment needed to conduct that research.
The University of Tulsa is grateful to Dr. Lorraine Stengl for her foresight and generosity. Talented students will benefit from her parents’ namesake endowment and the research it funds for generations to come.
