Kenneth L. Brune

Kenneth L. “Ken” Brune was a war hero when he entered TU’s College of Law, having received the Bronze Star for valor for his service in the Vietnam War. Following his graduation from law school in 1974, he has continued to be a hero through his dedication to community service and philanthropy.

Brune has shared his time and talents with his alma mater by serving as an adjunct professor and lecturer for TU Law. He also has given generously to support a wide array of initiatives at TU, including establishing the Annette Watkins Brune Alumni Seminar Series in the College of Law in honor of his beloved late wife, and he funded the Kenneth L. Brune Award (1993-1998), which was given to the student with the highest grade in the Evidence course.

Ken Brune has been actively involved in The University of Tulsa College of Law Alumni Association and has served as president of that organization. He also was inducted into the TU College of Law Hall of Fame in 2014 in recognition of his career achievements and service to his alma mater.

In addition to his devotion to his alma mater, Brune has enthusiastically served his community and his church, holding leadership positions in many Tulsa civic and non-profit organizations, including the Eagle District, Indian Nations Council B.S.A., St. Francis of Assisi Trust, OSU Medical Center, the Tulsa Foundation of Architecture, the Tulsa County Bar Association, Legal Services of Eastern Oklahoma, and the American Bar Foundation.

Mr. Brune launched a successful career after graduating from The University of Tulsa, beginning as a law clerk, and moving on to become an assistant district attorney, a Special District Judge for Tulsa County, and then at law firms before ultimately founding his own firm. Brune Law Firm was established in 1994 and specializes in several areas of business and commercial law, energy law, as well as trusts and estates, slander and defamation, labor relations and complex litigation.

Ken Brune continues to appreciate the quality legal education he received at the TU College of Law, and in 2018, he established the Kenneth L. Brune Endowed Scholarship in Law to assist others hoping to pursue their studies at TU Law.

The University of Tulsa is deeply grateful to this caring alumnus whose namesake scholarship fund will assist TU Law students for generations to come, extending his impressive legacy of generosity and service to others.
