Juliet and Robert Douglass

William E. “Bill” Douglass (BA ’64, JD ’68) was an only child who made a good life for himself, for his family, and for others in the community. In his career, he advanced to the role of vice president and general counsel of Hunt Realty Corp., a subsidiary of Hunt Oil. Beyond the workplace, he was a dedicated volunteer known for his sincerity and ability to touch the lives of others. With his steady sense of ethics and his quick wit, he made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

At the time of his death in 1994, Douglass was survived by his wife, Linda (BS ’66); two children, Laura D. Hart and William B. Douglass; and by his father, Robert Douglass, and stepmother, Juliet Lyons Douglass.

Robert and Juliet found it fitting to establish a scholarship in 2000 to honor Bill’s legacy and to help aspiring attorneys who never had the opportunity to meet this man and benefit from his example as a scholar, lawyer, and citizen.

Robert Douglass, who passed away in 2002, was a B-17 pilot in World War II and retired as vice president of the Petroleum-Chemical Division at Ethyl Corp. Juliet Lyons Douglass, who passed away in 2012, was a volunteer with several charitable organizations, including the Children’s Day Nursery and Meals on Wheels. For some years, she also managed the ladies department at Renberg’s Utica Square.
