Judith E. and Robert E. McCormack

Robert E. “Bob” McCormack and Judith E. “Judy” (Marlow) McCormack established the Patricia E. Marlow Scholarship for Education in memory of Judy’s younger sister, Patricia. Born July 19, 1948, Patricia graduated from The University of Tulsa in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in special education. She taught for Tulsa Public Schools and was a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church. She passed away in January 1993, at the age of 44. Through this permanent endowment, Bob and Judy have ensured that Patricia’s legacy will continue through the achievements of talented and deserving young scholars.

Both TU Distinguished Service Award Recipients, Judy McCormack (BA, ’63, Secondary Education; MA, ’77, Modern Letters) and Bob McCormack (BA ’61, English; JD ’69) have been loyal and longstanding supporters of TU’s mission.

As a student, Judy was named Outstanding Freshman Scholar and was selected for membership in Mortar Board, Phi Gamma Kappa, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and the Lantern Society, which she served as president.

Bob earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors and served as a student senator and eventually as president of the Student Senate. He was a charter member of Omicron Delta Kappa national men’s leadership fraternity and a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, Phi Gamma Kappa, Sword and Key, Phi Alpha Theta, and Pi Gamma Mu scholastic fraternities, the Kappa Alpha Order, and President Emeritus Ben Graf Henneke’s “President’s Club.”

After graduating from TU, Bob began his career in the energy industry, followed by a successful private law practice in which he specialized in energy, probate, and general commercial law. He and Judy raised three sons, Kevin, Kyle, and Marc, rarely missing their activities while they were growing up, and taking them on memorable family vacations.

As alumni, Bob and Judy McCormack gave of their time, talent, and financial resources to support their alma mater, serving on the Board of Visitors of the Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences, the Golden Hurricane Club Board of Directors, the TU Alumni Association Board of Directors, and participating in the McFarlin Fellows and the Ben Graf Henneke Society in support of McFarlin Library’s Special Collections.

In acknowledgement of their loyalty and support of their alma mater, Bob and Judy McCormack were recognized as members of the President’s Council, the Circle Society, and the Chapman Legacy Society, three of TU’s preeminent donor affinity groups. They also received the Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Service Award for their tireless efforts in support of their alma mater.

Bob and Judy also were instrumental in establishing TU’s Franklin J. Eikenberry Memorial Scholarship for English, honoring the memory of influential English literature professor Franklin J. Eikenberry.

Bob McCormack passed away in 2017. Judy continues to support the university where she and Bob met and built the foundation for a lifelong partnership.
