John and Cheryl Forrest

John B. Forrest (BA ’72, Zoology) and Cheryl Y. Forrest (BS ’74, Special Education) met while attending The University of Tulsa, and the couple has continued to share an affinity for their alma mater for more than 40 years.

John went on to study medicine at the University of Oklahoma and has built a successful career as a respected Tulsa urologist. Cheryl completed an M.Ed. degree in Guidance and Counseling at OU, and she has been active in the arts, especially with Tulsa Ballet, which she served as president. She also is the founding president of the Piedmont Council of the Arts (VA) and has received the Oklahoma Governor’s Arts Award.

John and Cheryl Forrest have generously supported an array of programs at TU, including the Oxley College of Health Sciences, the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC), TU Uncorked, the Golden Hurricane Club, the football and basketball programs, men’s tennis, the TU Lettermen’s Association Golf Tournament, the Tickets for Troops initiative, the Thomas Challenge for H. A. Chapman Stadium, Gilcrease Museum and KWGS.

Dr. Forrest also is serving his second term on The University of Tulsa Board of Trustees (2012-present), having served the first time from 1994 to 1999, generously donating his time and insight.

John and Cheryl’s generosity has brought them recognition as members of the TU President’s Council and the Circle Society, two of the University’s esteemed donor affinity organizations. In 2005, Dr. Forrest was recognized for his outstanding career achievements and service to TU with the Distinguished Alumni Award.

To provide opportunity for future generations of TU students, John and Cheryl Forrest have established an estate gift to fund The John and Cheryl Forrest Presidential Scholarship Endowment Fund, a permanent source of scholarship support for academically outstanding students. The TU family is grateful for this important investment in our future.
