The University of Tulsa has long benefited from the ideas, enthusiasm, and defining backgrounds of students who hail both from nearby communities and from faraway international cities. Joachim W. “Jo” Stahler (BBA ’84; MBA ’85) is one alumnus with distant roots who brought his intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic to campus as a student. Now a prominent Zurich businessman, Jo continues to support TU and to encourage students to attend the university that has meant so much to him over the years.
Stahler is the owner of Stahler.Group, a development and asset management firm with offices in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Spain. He is also a member of the Executive Board and the Board of Directors for the company. A financial expert and investor, Stahler has more than 20 years of experience in the finance industry, including time spent at Merrill Lynch International and Credit Suisse Asset Management. His firm has been developing high-quality residential and commercial properties and hotels since 2007. Stahler.Group’s asset management arm analyzes the market and provides long-term investment advice.
In 2011, Jo thoughtfully established an endowed scholarship fund at TU, called the Joachim Stahler Finance Excellence Endowment, to support students in the Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program. In 2024, Mr. Stahler moved his support from the MSF program (which had recently been discontinued) to the real estate program in the Collins College of Business. This new purpose reflects his interest and success in the field of real estate.
Stahler has utilized his academic knowledge and his business skills to achieve a high level of success in his professional endeavors in the years since his graduation. He is also enhancing the academic experience of those students who come after him through his significant endowment fund, and for that, the university is truly grateful.
