Jeanette Headington Kern is a proud and loyal alumna of The University of Tulsa (BA ’76) who is committed to promoting excellence and opportunity in higher education, especially at her alma mater.
Kern has many wonderful memories of her college days at The University of Tulsa, including the camaraderie and first-rate coaching she experienced as a member and letter winner of the Golden Hurricane Women’s Tennis Team, the excellent instruction she received in her studies and the enduring friendships she established through her participation in campus activities.
Kern proudly maintains a relationship with the university through her lifetime membership in the TU Lettermen’s Association. Kern and her husband, Terry C. Kern, have generously supported both academics and athletics at TU, including the TU Lettermen’s Association, the Golden Hurricane Club, the Case Athletic Complex, the Thomas Challenge for H. A. Chapman Stadium, the TU Tennis Program, the Annual Fund for the College of Arts and Sciences, the TU Annual Fund and Gilcrease Museum.
TU has acknowledged the extraordinary and inspired philanthropy of Jeanette and Terry Kern by recognizing them as members of the President’s Council, signifying their roles as partners in the Board of Trustees’ efforts to advance the University.
Kern recognizes the overwhelmingly positive influence her degree and her experience as a TU student-athlete are having on her life, and the fact that higher education and athletics can be important factors in the success of any individual. Kern now wishes to provide educational opportunities for future generations of student-athletes at The University of Tulsa and in fulfillment of this wish has established a life insurance gift to create The Jeanette Headington Kern Endowed Scholarship for Student-Athletes.
