Jane A. Beatty and Matthew J. Foehr

Matthew Foehr (BS ’80, Petroleum Engineering) and Jane Beatty (BS ’80, Mathematics) are loyal alumni of The University of Tulsa who share a commitment to promoting opportunity in higher education, especially for those following in their footsteps in TU’s College of Engineering and Natural Sciences.

Foehr and Beatty have many wonderful memories of their college days at The University of Tulsa, and they continue to appreciate the high quality of education they received in their studies.

After graduation, they went on to establish successful careers. Foehr worked for 33 years at Chevron Corporation, retiring in 2015 as corporate vice president and comptroller. Beatty worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

The couple has generously supported The University of Tulsa through gifts to the TU Annual Fund for the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences and to the McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering.

In 2013, the couple wanted to strengthen their support of The University of Tulsa, and they established The Foehr/Beatty Scholarship Endowment Fund in Engineering and Natural Sciences, a permanent source of scholarship support for students majoring in engineering and the natural sciences. Recipients of this scholarship each year are known as Foehr/Beatty Scholars.

In 2019, the couple fortified this scholarship program with an additional gift, making it possible for two students to receive assistance from the fund each year. The second scholarship recipient is known as the Beatty/Foehr Scholar each year.

The University of Tulsa is grateful to these loyal alumni who took action to help others achieve their aspirations in the fields of engineering and the natural sciences.
