Louis Blair served the public good throughout his distinguished career as an administrator, advisor, volunteer, researcher, teacher, and friend. As Executive Secretary of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation, Mr. Blair was instrumental in launching the public service careers of talented young leaders nationwide, as well as guiding the growth of the Foundation’s scholarship program, which now awards more than 75 scholarships annually.
The University of Tulsa was proud to be recognized as a 2005 Truman Honor Institution and was honored to welcome Louis Blair as a distinguished speaker during the campus community’s 2005 Fall Convocation. The University and members of the TU family chose to honor Louis Blair on the occasion of his visit by creating a namesake Presidential Scholarship. Blair passed away in September of 2020, leaving a remarkable legacy of mentorship and dedication to promoting public service.
