Harold Gray Osborn was a respected executive of Continental Oil Company (later known as Conoco and now as ConocoPhillips), serving as a vice president and director of the company at the time of his retirement in 1977. Dr. Osborn’s contributions included the development of research programs and partnerships in support of education, and he was especially known as a key contributor to the fields of manufacturing and petrochemicals. The University of Tulsa awarded Harold Osborn an Honorary Doctor of Science degree in 1960.
Colleagues, friends and family mounted a grassroots effort to establish a graduate fellowship endowment fund at The University of Tulsa in Dr. Osborn’s honor in 1977 in recognition of his retirement. The fund is formally known as The Harold G. Osborn Graduate Fellowship, and it supports fellowships for graduate students in energy-related disciplines.
Harold Osborn passed away in 1992, but his legacy is sustained by TU’s Harold Osborn Fellows, who are aspiring to become the leaders and innovators of our region’s energy industry.
