The Honorable Stephanie K. Seymour, senior judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, has dedicated herself to advancing the cause of equal justice under the law during more than 35 years of distinguished judicial service.
She also has served tirelessly as a Tulsa community leader, earning numerous awards for her service, including the Tulsa County Bar Association’s President’s Award, the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Women in Law Spotlight Award and the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association’s Outstanding Appellate Award.
In addition to her contributions on the bench and in the community, Seymour has served as a mentor to many outstanding law school graduates who have clerked for her, including several TU Law graduates. Seymour has trained her clerks well, teaching them the nuances of jurisprudence and also instilling in them the values they have carried into their own careers.
In 2006, Judge Seymour’s law clerks chose to honor their mentor with the creation of a namesake endowed lectureship at The University of Tulsa College of Law, which is formally known as the Judge Stephanie K. Seymour Lectureship in Law.
