Elizabeth Wells Burden and Jared M. Burden

Jared M. Burden (JD ’10) is a proud and loyal alumnus of The University of Tulsa College of Law who is committed to promoting excellence and opportunity in higher education. Jared met his wife, Elizabeth Wells Burden (JD ’10) while at TU. Jared graduated with the highest honors and currently serves as an associate at McAfee & Taft in Tulsa, Okla.

Jared’s father, Richard M. Burden (JD ’90), also is a TU Law alumnus who was a first-generation college graduate. Richard has enjoyed a successful career and most recently served as chief financial officer and legal counsel for Don-Nan Pump & Supply in Midland, Texas. Jared’s mother, Karen, is a music and elementary school teacher who always encouraged Jared in his educational pursuits.

Elizabeth launched a successful career after graduating from TU and recognizes the overwhelmingly positive influence her degree and TU law experience has had on her life. Jared is deeply grateful to both of his parents for the love, support and encouragement they provided as he pursued his undergraduate and master’s degrees at Texas Tech University and his law degree at TU. Elizabeth is deeply grateful to her parents, Max and Diane Wells, because she realizes that her TU law degree was made possible only through the love, emotional and financial support, and encouragement they gave her.

Jared and Elizabeth wish to provide educational opportunities for future generations of TU law students while honoring their parents for the sacrifices they made that allowed them to attend TU. As part of the Pioneer Program, Elizabeth and Jared created two life insurance gifts to benefit TU: the Richard and Karen Burden Law Scholarship Endowment Fund and the Max and Diane Wells Endowed Scholarship Fund for Law.
