The late Thelba Olive Brinlee was a prominent resident of Skiatook, Oklahoma, who left a large estate gift to The University of Tulsa. Thelba and her husband, the late Carl Brinlee, were among the principal owners of Skiatook Bancorporation, the holding company for The Exchange Bank of Skiatook, and the couple operated the bank for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Brinlee had a strong connection to The University of Tulsa because their daughter, Xandra Brinlee Faust, attended TU in the 1950s. Mrs. Brinlee obviously held The University of Tulsa in high esteem throughout her life, as shown by her decision to leave a generous legacy to support the University.
The late Elizabeth Ann “Becky” Wallace (BA ’62, English Education) was a proud and loyal alumna of The University of Tulsa, who was also a steadfast donor from 1971 to 2011, supporting a wide array of University programs and initiatives. Becky Wallace went on to an exemplary life of community service in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, giving of her time, talents and financial resources to support a number of worthy organizations, including the League of Women Voters, Oak Park United Methodist Church, Women’s Network, and the Oklahoma Mozart Foundation, just to name a few. In recognition of her devotion to civic volunteerism, she received a special award from the Allied Arts and Humanities Council of Bartlesville in 1993 for her long and dedicated service to the arts. Ms. Wallace’s affinity for The University of Tulsa continued throughout her life, as evidenced by an estate gift she left to her alma mater. In fulfillment of their wishes to support The University of Tulsa, Thelba Brinlee’s estate gift and Becky Wallace’s estate gift were combined and set aside in an endowment at The University of Tulsa, and this endowment gift is formally recognized as The Thelba Brinlee and Becky Wallace Endowed Provost Scholarship Fund.
