Dr. David Joe and Lauren Madden Williams

Dr. David Joe Williams (BA ’99, Geology) and Lauren Madden Williams (JD ’09) made the most of their time at The University of Tulsa. They are now accomplished professionals who hope to help future TU students achieve similar success.

After graduating from The University of Tulsa, David earned graduate degrees at The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, culminating with a PhD in Civil Engineering from OSU. He has served as an adjunct professor at both TU and OSU, while also being promoted to increasingly responsible roles at the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Tulsa in the areas of hydrology and hydraulics.

Lauren Williams launched her law career at the prominent Tulsa law firm Pray Walker, before going to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in leadership roles in the legal division.

Both David and Lauren have given generously of their time and talent to TU, serving on the Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board (David) and the Law Dean’s Advisory Board (Lauren). They have also served in key volunteer positions for the TU Alumni Association. Their gifts to TU have supported both academics and athletics.

David and Lauren Williams recognize the overwhelmingly positive influence their degrees and experiences as students at The University of Tulsa continue to have on their lives, and the fact that higher education can be an important factor in the success of any individual.

As a result, the couple established two endowments at The University of Tulsa in 2011, and these funds are known as The Dr. David Joe and Lauren Madden Williams Endowed Scholarship Funds. Created as part of TU’s Pioneer Program, a life insurance initiative, these scholarship funds will support future generations of talented TU students.

The University of Tulsa is deeply grateful for the partnership of these loyal alumni and for their selfless efforts to support the students who will follow them in the future.
