Dolores Ann Kaplan Nesbit

Dolores Ann “Dody” Kaplan Nesbit was clearly passionate about education and its power to change lives. Mrs. Nesbit studied education at The University of Tulsa, earning a Master of Arts degree in education in 1963. She went on to serve as a dedicated high school counselor and teacher for many years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, touching the lives of countless students with her guidance and knowledge.

Dody Nesbit also gave generously to support The University of Tulsa, making gifts over a 30-year period to support TU’s School of Education, the Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences, and the TU Annual Fund.

In a final nod to the career that she loved so much, Mrs. Nesbit left an estate gift to The University of Tulsa, designed to help others pursue their goals in the teaching profession. She passed away in November of 2014, but her legacy in the field of education is sustained by her endowment gift.

The Dolores Ann “Dody” Kaplan Nesbit Scholarship in Education Endowment Fund provides scholarship and/or stipend assistance to students pursuing degrees in education with aspirations to become high school counselors or teachers.

The University of Tulsa is deeply grateful to this loyal alumna, whose forethought and generosity will create important opportunities for the students following in her footsteps at TU toward fulfilling and successful careers in education.
