The late David Lowe Pierce had a great interest in Gilcrease Museum and its collection of pre-Columbian artifacts, especially those from the North American mound cultures and the Mesoamerica collection. Mr. Pierce wished to see that those artifacts would be maintained and preserved, and that new acquisitions would be made to enhance those collections. David Lowe Pierce passed away in 2012, and he left a significant estate gift to fund a permanent endowment to support Gilcrease Museum. This endowed fund is recognized as The David Lowe Pierce Endowment Fund for Pre-Columbian Artifacts at Gilcrease Museum. Annually distributed earnings from this fund are used to support the maintenance, preservation and enhancement of the collection of pre-Columbian artifacts at the museum.
