Christopher “Chris” Lastrapes (BA ’03, Political Science, BS ’03, Economics, MA ’05, English Language and Literature) has used his degrees and love of film and writing to carve out a fulfilling career for himself in California. He currently serves as a Film and Television Strategy and Marketing Consultant for Warner Brothers, after having worked at Theorem Media (his own company), Fox, Sony and DC Entertainment. He lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Keto Shimizu, and their two children.
Chris made the most of his time at TU through his active involvement in Sigma Chi Fraternity and the TU Student Association. He also served as the Sports Editor of The Collegian and worked with the writers’ group “Fictional Characters.”
Chris has given generously of his time, talent and financial resources to his alma mater, having served on the TU Alumni Board of Directors from 2015-2018, and as President of the TU Alumni Association Chapter of Los Angeles from 2016-2018. He has been a donor to an array of TU programs since 2006.
Lastrapes continues to appreciate the quality education he received at The University of Tulsa and the assistance he was given as a Presidential Scholar. In 2011, he decided to establish two scholarship funds through TU’s Pioneer Program, a life insurance initiative. The Christopher Lastrapes Alumni Legacy Endowed Scholarship will provide assistance to students who graduate from Jenks High School and/or are members of Sigma Chi Fraternity. The Christopher Lastrapes Film and Drama Endowed Scholarship will support students pursuing degrees in Film Studies or English (with an emphasis on film or Renaissance drama).
The University of Tulsa is grateful to this accomplished alumnus, who clearly wishes to create opportunities for those who will follow in his steps at his alma mater for many years to come.
