Carolyn D. and Jack C. Blair

Leslie Ann Shook and John Bradford Dalton met on the campus of their alma mater, Indiana University, and they married on April 25, 1970, after earning their undergraduate degrees. They have many wonderful memories of their college days and recognize that they have had successful lives and careers due in large part to the knowledge and skills they acquired while earning their degrees.

Leslie and Brad worked to instill in their daughters, Carolyn Dalton Blair and Alexandra Dalton Paschal, a deep respect for higher education as an avenue for personal success and opportunity, encouraging and financing their daughters’ degrees at Texas Christian University (Carolyn, 1997) and Vanderbilt University (Alexandra, 1999). Leslie and Brad made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1983, becoming valuable and involved members of the community by assisting with their children’s school activities and volunteering with civic organizations.

Brad established a successful career as a stockbroker, not only by assisting his clients in reaching their financial goals through his expertise and training, but also by living with a compassionate and generous spirit. Leslie enjoyed a fulfilling career in community volunteerism, donating her capable and conscientious efforts to worthy organizations including the Tulsa Master Gardeners and The Tulsa Town Hall Board.

Carolyn Blair is a Tulsa development professional who has advanced the missions of the non-profit institutions and organizations for which she has worked, including The University of Tulsa.

In 2010, Carolyn decided to honor her parents on their 40th wedding anniversary in recognition of the loving family they have raised and the lasting legacy they are leaving for their community. She established a planned gift in association with TU’s Pioneer Program and created the Leslie and Brad Dalton Endowed Scholarship Fund. The University of Tulsa is grateful to Carolyn and her husband, Jack Blair, for funding this important opportunity for future generations of TU students.
