Carol A. Hunt

Carol A. Hunt was a friend and supporter of The University of Tulsa, who had strong ties to TU through her father and brother, both proud TU alumni.

James Clarence Hunt (BS ’49, physical education) was Carol’s father, and he was involved in an array of activities at TU, including being a Theatre Workshopper and a Football Letterman. Her brother, William Bennett Hunt (BS ’73, English), also enjoyed his time as a TU student, and he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.

Carol was born in Tulsa and moved to Indiana as a child. She attended Connersville High School, where she was head majorette, a member of the National Honor Society, and Miss Fayette County. Ms. Hunt graduated from Indiana University, and she returned to Tulsa after her graduation and enjoyed much career success, becoming the first female west of the Mississippi River hired in a management consulting capacity by a Big 8 Accounting Firm.

In retirement, Carol returned to Indiana and became actively involved in the Basset Hound Club of America as a board member and as editor of the organization’s magazine for 14 years.

Carol Hunt recognized the value that her father and brother placed on their TU experiences, and she made plans to leave an estate gift to the University before she passed away in 2016 at the age of 69.

Her gift resulted in the Hunt Family Scholarship Quasi-Endowment Fund, which provides need-based scholarship support for students from Harmon County, Oklahoma, where her father was born. In the absence of students from Harmon County, the scholarships will be awarded to students from the Oklahoma-Texas panhandle area.

The University of Tulsa is deeply grateful that this important scholarship fund will sustain the legacy of the Hunt Family in perpetuity while serving as a touching tribute from Carol Hunt to her father and brother, James and William Hunt.
