Calvin Michael Moniz

When alumnus Calvin Michael Moniz (BSBA ’06, MBA ’08, JD ‘15) first arrived on The University of Tulsa’s campus, he probably had no idea he was beginning a lengthy journey that would involve a quality education, leadership development, career growth, and enduring friendships.

In addition to focusing on his studies in the Collins College of Business, Moniz spent a significant amount of his time building leadership skills through his membership in the Kappa Alpha Order, the TU Student Association, the Future Alumni Council, and the University Ambassadors. He also enjoyed attending TU Athletics events, especially men’s tennis and soccer matches, two sports that experienced a great deal of success during his time as a student.

After earning his undergraduate degree in business management with a minor in film studies, Moniz decided to pursue graduate studies in the Collins College of Business, earning an MBA in 2008, but he was still not ready to leave campus.

Calvin Moniz launched his career at his alma mater, going to work for the Office of University Advancement and Alumni Engagement and quickly climbing in the ranks to become the Director of Development for the Collins College of Business. While working, he also pursued a TU Law degree, which he received in 2015. He then became an Assistant Dean and Director of the Business Career Center in the Collins College of Business, before leaving his alma mater to work in corporate university relations. This new field enabled him to use his skills in matching college students with fulfilling careers.

In 2010, Moniz wished to strengthen his support of the TU Athletics Program, especially in the area of Olympic sports, including soccer and tennis. Through TU’s Pioneer Program, Calvin established a life insurance gift to create the Calvin Michael Moniz Endowment for Olympic Sports.

In addition, Calvin created the Calvin Michael Moniz Endowed Scholarship for the Kappa Alpha Order to assist members of his fraternity. This fund was also established in connection with the Pioneer Program.

In 2023, Calvin made the decision to fortify his support of the Collins College of Business, committing a planned gift to create the Calvin Michael Moniz Dean’s Excellence Fund. This endowment will provide discretionary funds for use by the Genave King Rogers Dean of the Collins College of Business.

Calvin’s devotion to TU continues today, as he participates in activities related to the TU Alumni Association and TU Athletics. The University of Tulsa is grateful for the exceptional involvement and gracious generosity of Calvin Michael Moniz.
