Bill and Rosie Hinkle

John W. “Bill” Hinkle (BS ’69, Print & Broadcast Journalism) and Rosie Hinkle are leaders in Tulsa’s advertising industry, Bill having launched an award-winning career in advertising after he graduated from TU, and Rosie also working in the advertising field.

In fact, Bill Hinkle received the Silver Addy Award from the Tulsa Advertising Federation in 1994, the highest honor granted by that organization.

In 2009, Bill and Rosie Hinkle made a significant gift to the TU Ad Program by sponsoring the Hinkle Creative Center in Oliphant Hall, a multimedia suite that provides vital technological resources for students in advertising, media studies and languages.

Bill and Rosie also have given freely of their time by serving as Honorary Chairs of TU Uncorked 2014, and Bill has donated his time as President of the TU Alumni Association (1998-99) and as Co-Chair of the TU Alumni Association’s Homecoming Celebration (1996), among other volunteer leadership positions.

Bill and Rosie also have made gifts to support the Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Media Studies, the Ad Program, the Collins College of Business, the Golden Hurricane Club and other TU Athletics programs, as well as TU Uncorked, Homecoming and KWGS.

The University of Tulsa recognized Bill Hinkle in 2012 with the prestigious J. Paschal Twyman Award, an honor bestowed upon distinguished TU alumni, friends and family members who have gone above and beyond expectations to support the University through their extraordinary commitment and leadership.

Bill was inducted into The University of Tulsa’s Communication Hall of Fame in 2017 in recognition of his outstanding career accomplishments and contributions to his field.

Also in 2017, Bill and Rosie fortified their support of the Ad Program at TU by committing an estate gift to create an endowment fund. The Bill and Rosie Hinkle Endowment for the Ad Program at TU in the Department of Media Studies will generate supplemental funding for the Ad Program for generations to come. Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle have been named to TU’s esteemed Chapman Legacy Society in recognition of this planned gift.

The University of Tulsa deeply appreciates this vital endowment, which will foster academic excellence in the Ad Program at TU while also extending the legacy of enthusiasm and support shown by Bill and Rosie Hinkle to TU and the students following in Bill’s footsteps.
