Bennett M. Miller

Bennett M. Miller (BA ’90, Political Science) made the most of his time at The University of Tulsa, excelling in the classroom and in extracurricular activities, including serving as president of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society, during the 1989-1990 academic year.

Bennett was born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, graduating from Bartlesville High School in 1986. His parents, Robert C. Miller Sr. and Autumn Joy Miller, instilled in Bennett and his brother, Robert C. Miller Jr. (BSBA ’85, Management; BS ’87, Engineering Physics), a strong appreciation for higher education, and they made sure that their two children were able to attend TU. Both sons went on to enjoy successful careers, Bennett in law and Robert in medicine.

Bennett has received numerous awards and distinctions in recognition of his leadership and public service during his career in law and government relations.

In an effort to maintain a lifelong connection with his alma mater, Bennett has given generously of his time, talents and financial resources to TU for many years, including serving on the National Board of the TU Alumni Association, the Past Presidents’ Council, the TU Uncorked Committee, the TU Heritage Committee, and as a utulsa connect mentor.

In 2011, Bennett committed two significant planned gifts to support those following in his footsteps at The University of Tulsa. The Bennett M. Miller Endowed Scholarship Fund for the Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences will support leadership-minded students majoring in political science, with a preference for students from Bartlesville High School.

He established the Autumn Joy and Robert C. Miller, Sr. Endowed Scholarship Fund in honor of his parents’ 50th wedding anniversary in 2011, to thank them for their caring, lifelong support. This scholarship provides need-based support for students residing in John Mabee Hall, which was the residence hall where both Bennett and Robert Jr. lived while at TU, and they continue to have fond memories of their time there.

The University of Tulsa is grateful for the friendship and generosity of this devoted alumnus.
