William C. “John” Hill (BS ’59, Chemical Engineering) was a proud and loyal alumnus of The University of Tulsa who was committed to helping those following in his steps at his alma mater.
John spoke fondly of his experiences at The University of Tulsa, where he received excellent instruction in his classes and established enduring friendships through his fraternity, the Kappa Alpha Order, and in his other campus activities.
John’s wife, Ann Doerrie Hill, also attended The University of Tulsa and was a member of Delta Gamma sorority, before ultimately graduating from The University of Texas at Tyler.
John Hill launched a long and successful career in chemical engineering after graduating from The University of Tulsa, retiring from the Texas Eastman Company in 1991, and he continued to credit part of his career success to the outstanding chemical engineering education he received at TU.
In 2015, Ann and John Hill hoped to make a quality TU chemical engineering education accessible to others who might need financial assistance to reach their academic goals. That year, they established a planned gift for the Ann D. and William C. Hill Endowed Scholarship for Chemical Engineering.
While Ann Hill passed away in 2018, and John died in 2023, their spirit of generosity and care for others continues to be sustained by their namesake scholarship endowment fund, which will provide support for deserving chemical engineering students at TU for generations to come.
